Break out of the Heart-shaped Box this Valentineā€™s Day: Be Creative and Think Green

Valentineā€™s Day often feels like an odd ā€œholidayā€ to me. Itā€™s supposed to be a celebration of love, a gift that is freely given, yet weā€™ve been convinced that we have to spend a small fortune one day a year to show how much we love someone. If that isn’t perplexing enough, many of the gifts associated with Valentine’s Day also carry a high social cost and large ecological footprint. It’s time to rethink how we celebrate the day of love and extend that love to the planet and our global family.
